Craftsmanship and Design

Villa Hegra and the Mobilier national, a leading institution in contemporary creation and the promotion of French decorative arts, have partnered to foster exchanges in the fields of exceptional craftsmanship and design.

This collaboration notably takes shape through a cross-residency program enabling a Saudi artist to work between Paris and AlUla.

Within this framework, Saudi artist and designer Bashaer Hawsawi was hosted in residence at the Manufactures nationales in Paris in November 2025, where she immersed herself in the excellence of French savoir-faire while developing a dialogue between local craft traditions and her own artistic language.

Following this initial phase, she is continuing her residency at Villa Hegra in AlUla as part of the institution’s cultural program, under the artistic direction of Basmah Felemban and Gaël Charbau.
